At Salsamas, you'll take group salsa lessons that are accessible to everyone, regardless of experience. Whether you're just taking your first steps on the dance floor or want to improve your existing technique, you'll learn in friendly groups under the guidance of experienced instructors.
Our classes combine clear explanations with personalized attention, allowing you to progress at your own pace. Fun is key, as are trust, rhythm, and connection. Dancing at Salsamas isn't just a learning process; it's an experience that boosts both physical and mental energy.
For anyone who has never danced salsa before or wants to relearn the basics. In these lessons, you'll learn the fundamentals: rhythm, basic steps, posture, and turns. Everything is taught at a relaxed pace, with plenty of repetition and personalized guidance. Ideal for building confidence and becoming comfortable on the dance floor.
In level 2, you'll build on what you learned in level 1. You'll learn new figures, more variations in turns, and how to dance better with a partner. We'll work on your technique, musicality, and the smooth combination of movements.
We'll gradually break through the safe foundations of the Beginners 1 course. This will quickly build confidence in your dance experience, and your movements will evolve from steps to dance. The atmosphere remains relaxed, but you'll notice you develop more control and flow.
By now, your dancing is flowing smoothly, your turns are steady, and you're effortlessly dancing a whole number full of the coolest moves. In Beginners 3, we'll learn the final basic figures that will add a bit more power to your dance. Once you've mastered these figures, we'll have enough knowledge to adapt our dance to the music from the advanced lessons onward.
In this class, we'll combine technique, timing, and expression. You'll learn more complex combinations and partner work, and have more space to develop your own style. We'll also focus on leading and following, varying tempos, and dancing with more musicality.
The advanced classes are perfect for those who truly want to dance LA style. We've now mastered the technique well enough to start doing accelerated turns outside of the regular rhythm, and we've also mastered styling the breaks in a song. In short, in the advanced salsa LA class, you'll learn to put on a real show. This is done in the fun, accessible way you've come to expect from us.

Are you new to salsa and don't have any dance experience? Then it's best to start during one of our official introductory sessions. This way, you can easily connect with the group's level and build a strong foundation from the start.

Wear clothes that allow you to move freely and shoes that spin easily—dance shoes or sneakers with smooth soles are ideal. You don't need to bring anything else except an open mind and a good mood!
That's the recommendation, but it's not mandatory. More women than men always sign up for solo classes, and it's a real challenge to keep the same number of students in each class each week. We do our best to arrange a dance partner every week, but we can't make any promises.
We regularly rotate dance partners during the class, so everyone practices together and makes quick progress. We also offer leading ladies classes where you learn to both lead and follow.
For fixed couples, rotating is not a requirement.
Our group classes usually consist of 10 to 20 people. This ensures a friendly atmosphere and plenty of personal attention from the instructor. If it's a popular class and more people regularly practice, we'll arrange for an additional instructor to maintain the personal attention.
Salsamas offers classes year-round, even during school holidays. Because many of our members travel outside of the regular school holidays, our classes will generally continue. However, during public holidays and summer vacation, there may be a modified schedule. We'll communicate this in advance so you know exactly what to expect.
Yes, with an unlimited subscription, you can participate as often as you like. Ideal if you want to progress quickly or really get the salsa workout in your body.
Please note that it's not feasible for beginners to attend an advanced lesson. If you'd like to make up a lesson at a different time and are unsure if the level is suitable, please contact your teacher.
No problem! Many of our classes are held twice a week, so you can usually easily join the other group that same week.
If there's no second lesson available at your level, or you're unable to attend, you're welcome to join us for a lesson at a lower level – that can be surprisingly educational too.
Or join in the Zumba class, no previous experience is necessary.
In short: enough options to not miss anything and to enjoy joining another class.
Absolutely! Our classes are usually taught in Dutch, but our instructors also speak English. Everyone will quickly feel at home at Salsamas.
Of course, it can be very helpful to practice alone with your dance partner first. If you don't have a dance partner, no problem! We're happy to discuss whether any students would like a private lesson or to dance with the instructor. There are plenty of options. More information can be found here: workshops
